Today marks the the 50th anniversary of earth day and I must say, a little reluctantly, that I vividly remember participating in the very first earth day on April 22, 1970. I’m only reluctant from the perspective that it dates me, but that day changed my connection with this big beautiful earth on so many levels. Throughout the years I have become a firm believer in recognizing my role in sustaining the earth. And it starts with my very own connection. What I observe and how I feel when I’m in nature. It’s that simple.

As I was thinking about writing this post, I got curious. What is happening to our planet during this pandemic? After a bit of research I found an interesting article about the “stay at home” effect on seismic noise here. And the decrease in air pollution around the world, here. A thought-provoking article about what we can learn from this virus for the future, here. All really interesting reads you might like and many more articles if you google it yourself.

This day—especially in today’s pandemic experience—is a reminder that we are all one global community sharing this great big planet of ours and what we do effects everyone and everything. No matter how big or small.

Happy Earth Day!
