Botanical Gardens, Shore Acres State Park
Oregon
This formal garden is tucked behind the main area of Shore Acres. Birds calling, curving walkways, a sweet little Japanese-style pond, and two beautiful rose gardens are part of this lush place. As you wander through the paths, you’ll find a new charming detail at every turn. Tall trees line one side, a moon bridge crosses water, and beautifully crafted benches are placed throughout the serene setting. The gift shop is one of my favorites. You’ll find a range of gifts from the sweetest bird houses to handcrafted bags from Nepal to the perfect beverage mug. If you visit around the holidays, the garden is decked out with thousands of twinkly lights. Bonus: You can visit any time of the year. The mild climate allows for year-round planting. Spring bulbs, rhododendrons, azaleas, flowering perennials and annuals, and rose bushes are among the hundreds of flowers showcased.
