Nine ways to bring nature inside
Create a tranquil ambiance in your home by bringing elements of nature inside. Think of this as more than home decor or adding a few potted plants. Surround yourself with items that portray bits of our natural world that you enjoy. Things that are intrinsically you. Things that nourish you. As you add these elements, your home will begin to take on a sanctuary-like vibe. You’ll feel more calm, peaceful, supported, and joyful. Here are nine ideas to help you bring nature into your home.
Add sprigs of lavender in your bedroom. This popular flower will activate the energy of stability in your life. It relieves stress by relaxing the entire body and it promotes good sleep. It symbolizes emotional and physical balance.
Hang nature photos of places or things that you love. It could be a scene from a vacation, a snapshot from your morning walk, or a giant print of your favorite flower. Gorgeous nature photographs improve emotional well-being as much as the real thing. They can evoke uplifting feelings of harmony, peace, and inspiration.
Frame a group of feathers. Are you a feathered friend lover? We have a framed group of feathers that are beautifully displayed between two pieces of glass. An inspiring piece that always reminds me of our amazing bird-watching experiences.
Display treasures from the sea or forest. Load tall skinny vases or the bases of hurricane candles with treasures you collect while beach walking or exploring a forest. Rocks, shells, seed pods, or forest floor debris make outstanding and interesting collections.
Add scented candles. For me, nothing is more heavenly than a jasmine scented candle. You might try floral, citrus or woody scents. Once lit, you’ll be cozied up with a book or cup of tea in no time.
Use a diffuser. Invest in an essential oil diffuser for aromatherapy. You can use a variety of essential oils such as rosemary, eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender and more. I am always guaranteed a more restful night when my diffuser is sending out those sleep-inducing aromas of lavender.
Scent some pinecones. Place a basket of pinecones in your home and scent them with your own homemade essential oil spray. Put 10-15 drops in a small spray bottle, add 1 teaspoon of salt and fill the rest with water. Use cedar oil to give your pinecones a forest smell or cinnamon for the holidays. Give your rooms a few sprays, too. Make a lavender oil spray for a bowl of dried flowers. Also, you can spray your pillow with it for divine sleep!
Place a small water feature near your home’s entry. Nothing promotes welcome and instant charm more than the sound of water. You’ll get a double-dose of nature with a small indoor natural stone fountain.
Tuck sprigs of herbs in vases and place in your kitchen. Smell them often, snip and add to your meals is all I can say. The health benefits are fantastic. Rosemary improves memory and mood. Basil boosts your immune system. Thyme if full of anti-oxidants.
